Strong House culture is built consistently

Many schools already have Houses, but creating consistent engagement and connection across the school year can be challenging. At Our House Spirit, we believe House culture is strengthened through repeated opportunities for participation, student leadership, shared experiences and visible House identity. Rather than relying on one-off events, our approach focuses on creating ongoing opportunities for students to contribute, connect and belong within their House community.

How the House Library works

The House Library combines leadership, events, activities and practical resources to help schools strengthen House culture in a consistent and connected way.

Together, these elements help create a visible, connected and student-led House culture across everyday school life.

A flexible approach for every school

Every school community is different, and the House Library is designed to be flexible.

Schools use the House Library in different ways depending on their goals, structure and House culture journey — whether strengthening student leadership, increasing participation or creating more visible House engagement across the school year.

The goal is not to replace a school’s existing House system, but to help schools strengthen and activate it in a practical and sustainable way.

The philosophy behind Our House Spirit

The House Library is grounded in the broader philosophy of Our House Spirit and its Effervescent House System, helping schools build connection, engagement and House identity across everyday school life.
